This week went by fast. Spelling Inventories and Running records are finally done. Mrs. Christensen was sick on Thursday so we helped run the class. Friday was our last day. The class made two big Thank you cards one for me and one for Annalynn. I had so much fun! There is a lot to do still for our classes.
Happy Thanksgiving!
I am getting ready for Monday. I need to read the articles. I finished the cross cultural analysis for Dr. Patch's class.
See ya Monday.

Week Ten
We ended up fixing rainsticks on Monday, but they went along great with the charted language experience. The students put different rythmns together with a little coaching. Then we applied the rythmns by speaking together to a poem about the rain.
Annalynn and I made reading folders for the students.
Today we taught the students how to use the smart cards. (the students come to a word they don't know and then apply a strategy to read it.)
Our teacher Mrs. Christensen uses word sorts almost every day. Today we worked on blind sorts and I timed how fast a student could put them in categories.
I found out that my uncle reads to students in second grade at the same school I am at.
We have one week left. I still need to do my case study.
I am really enjoying working with elementary school students and teachers.

Week Nine
This was my first week in Field. My partner is Annalynn Thomas. My teacher is Mrs. Christiansen. We taught some of the Math and some English when are teacher was gone and had a substitute. Today we taught our science lesson. We had three learning centers. They were about the weather. One group made rain sticks. Annalynn and I took turns doing the charted language experience. The third group made a weather wheel focusing on clouds. We found out that we didn't leave enough time to make the rain sticks. Mrs. Christiansen was very supportive and we worked out a plan so that the students didn't feel left out. During lunch Annalynn and I built the rainsticks half way. We got them started so the students could finish them right after lunch.
I found out that Mrs. Christiansen is from Mesa, AZ and that she knew my Dad's work partner.
She re-met him in Utah, but she realized that they knew of each other in AZ. Last year he pasted away and She and I both went to his funeral so it is kind of funny that we met during field experience.
